Feminist & Rhetoric...
two of my favorite words that get a bad rap. So let's quickly define them. Feminism: the belief that both sexes should have equal opportunities, treatment, and rights. Rhetoric: the art of effective or persuasive speaking or writing, especially the use of figures of speech and other compositional techniques. Notice, that it starts with "the art of". Something that is meant to be used as a constructive action is wildly misused to define primarily negative conversations, particularly in regards to politics. This drives me crazy. As a Communications Major in college my favorite classes were those that taught me of the famous philosophers who defined our innate and learned behaviors that move people to action through words and words alone.
So, this area of my site will be dedicated to highlighting feminist rhetoric that has inspired me to seek out opportunities to empower women daily. I will define the often misinterpreted and inform you of the latest developments in feminist conversation.
I look forward to sharing thoughtful, moving, motivating quotes and personal essays. I hope to inspire courage in every woman, and man, to embrace feminist rhetoric. It is only through constructive dialogue that we can truly understand all sides of the conversation.
